This story is a teaser for my work-in-progress novel Metal Fire, due out later this year. The novel’s setting is a dystopian future where the government uses robotic animals and other mech-creatures to wage war, crush dissent, and persecute Christians. This short story, A Glint of Silver, takes place just before society’s fall into chaos and features two supporting characters, Lyle and Devin.
